The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Assembly (BABMA) Hon. Alfred Amoah has distributed 35,000 Palm Seedlings to Famers within the municipality.
He disclosed that, the support forms part of the government’s flagship agricultural program dubbed; Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD), and also to provide the raw materials for the local industries in the Municipality.
The MCE said that the government is investing heavily in planting for food and jobs as well as planting for rural export and rural development programme to encourage the youth in Agriculture.
He further said that, the Assembly had already distributed free coconut seedlings to some farmers this year and has also supported some animal farmers with chicks and piglets as part of government’s Rearing for Food and Job program.
Hon. Amoah was confident that with such numerous interventions, the Municipality was on course to achieve the vision of boosting Agriculture in the area.
He appealed to the beneficiary farmers to follow all the directives given by the agricultural extension officers to improve the growth of the seedlings on their various farms in order to achieve the purpose of the delivery.
He said, the planting for export and rural development would go a long way to eradicate poverty in the rural areas and also help lands degraded by illegal miners (galamsey) regain their fertility and good shape.
He again entreated the youth to take advantage of this flagship program to better their lives and refrain themselves from illegal activities.
