MCE and MDF Secretariat Inspect and Hand Over Sites for Solar-Powered Mechanised Borehole Projects in Five Communities

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Bibiani–Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality, Hon. Sebastien Obeng, together with representatives from the Minerals Development Fund (MDF) Secretariat, has inspected and officially handed over project sites for the construction of solar-powered mechanised boreholes in five communities within the Municipality.

The beneficiary communities are Afamu, Degede, Overseas, Kwamekrom, and Alata. The project forms part of efforts to improve access to potable water and promote sustainable development in the beneficiary communities.

During the inspection, the MCE, accompanied by the MDF Secretariat team, visited the designated sites to assess their readiness for construction and facilitate the official handover for the commencement of the project. The exercise underscores the commitment of the Municipal Assembly and the MDF Secretariat to supporting development initiatives that address the essential needs of residents.

The construction of the solar-powered mechanised boreholes is expected to improve access to reliable water sources for households and community members. The project will also contribute to improved sanitation, public health, and the general well-being of residents by reducing the challenges associated with accessing potable water.

The adoption of solar-powered technology is intended to support sustainable water supply systems while reducing dependence on conventional electricity sources. This approach has the potential to enhance the reliability and operational efficiency of the boreholes for the beneficiary communities.

Hon. Sebastien Obeng expressed the Assembly’s commitment to working closely with the MDF Secretariat, contractors, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project. The collaboration is expected to facilitate the timely execution of the works and promote the long-term sustainability of the water facilities.

The project is expected to bring significant benefits to the people of Afamu, Degede, Overseas, Kwamekrom, and Alata, strengthening efforts to improve water accessibility and promote sustainable community development within the Bibiani–Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality.

The Bibiani–Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Assembly remains committed to advancing development projects that improve access to essential services and enhance the living conditions of residents across the Municipality.
