THE INNAUGURATION OF UNIT COMMITTEE, RECONSTITUTION OF ZONAL COUNCILS AND INNAUGURATION OF ZONAL COUNCILS

The Assembly in its quest to deepen decentralization and ensure effective operationalization of its sub-structures in pursuant to the Local government (urban, Zonal and town Councils and Unit Committees) (Establishment) Instrument, LI. 1967 of 2010 rolled out programme to inaugurate the Unit Committees and reconstitute the Zonal Councils to develop the political, administrative and financial authority from the center to the local level. The Assembly took five working days to undertake this all important exercise from 22^nd to 30^th June, 2020.

The various Unit Committee Members converged at the Zonal Council Headquarters and inaugurated after which the Zonal Councils were reconstituted and inaugurated. This was followed by the election of Chairpersons for the various Councils and climaxed with statements from Nananom.
