OGYEAHOHO URGES PARENTS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FREE SHS POLICY.

The Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area who doubles as a President of Western Regional House Chiefs Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has advised Parents to encourage their ward’s to take advantage of the Free Senior High School Policy in order to secured them a brighter future.
Ogyeahoho was speaking at a day sensitization workshop on illegal mining activities for Traditional Authorities organized by the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs at his palace on Monday 28th August, 2017.
The program was attracted with many dignitaries including the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Hon. Kofi Dzamesi, the District Chief Executive for Bibiani Hon. Alfred Amoah, District Coordinating Director Mr. John Nana Owu, District Police Commander Nana Kumi, District Manager
Forestry Commission Bibiani Mr. Adams, and the Paramount Chief of Kade Osabarima Tenadu ll.
The Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Hon. Dzemasi when addressing the gathering stated that, the program aimed at involving the Traditional Authorities in the fight against galamsey activities since they are the custodians of the lands.
According to him, Our various classrooms are empty because of galamsey activities, galamsey degrades our lands, Forest and Biodiversity, our water bodies are all under threat so the traditional authorities should awake and join hands to protect our environment and end galamsey now.
Hon. Dzemasi also laid emphasis on the various interventions government has put in place in fighting against galamsey menace such as operation vanguards deployed to various galamsey sites, training workshops for Small Scale operators in Tarkwa and others yet traditional authorities also has a very vital role to play in fighting against galamsey activities in the Ghana.
