On January 15, 2025, the LEAP Re-assessment team presented their findings at the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Assembly Hall, addressing concerns from various public institutions, including Health, Planning, Education, and Social Welfare. The team highlighted the need to update the LEAP program, as it had not been reassessed since 2008. The goal is to add 14 new communities, bringing the total to 72, and remove some ineligible beneficiaries. Challenges discussed included poor network coverage, political interference, unqualified beneficiaries, and the need for greater community participation. Recommendations focused on improved sensitization, better communication, and increased involvement of women and local stakeholders in the data collection process. The Re-assessment team emphasized the importance of targeting the most vulnerable, such as the poor, widows, orphans, pregnant women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, to achieve the program’s objectives.
