GALAMESEY FORUM HELD AT SEFWI CHIRANO.

The Deputy Minister of Chieftancy, who doubles as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro Constituency Hon. Paul Essien has warned Chiefs and Politicians who are (alleged) secretly behind the rampant illegal mining activities in some part of the country polluting our various water bodies and destroying forest reserves while the government ban imposed on galamesy is still pending.
According him, Gold mining activities started in Ghana decades ago but it did not affected any of our water bodies, forest reserved and all sort of negative impacts having on our life these days.
Hon. Essien disclosed this at Sefwi Chirano in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality in the Western Region during the first day of his five days tour in Western Region to meet the Chiefs, Municipal Chiefs Executives, Securities and the general public to jaw, jaw and found a lastly solution to tackle galamesy manace in Western Region.
On the part of the paramount chief of Sefwi Chirano Okogyeaman Kwaku Gyeaprah lll, commended the government for his bold decision in fighting against galamesy activities in order to protect our forest and water bodies for future generations.
adding that,his outfit is going to institute a task force committee and seek an approval from Inspector General of Police (IGP) to serve as a watch dogs to support the police with the acruate information in the suspected areas of operations to eliminate any perpetuators from the area.
