The Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Hon. Bright Asamoah Brefo, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Sebastian Obeng, today marked the national “My First Day at School” initiative by visiting schools and donating essential items to new pupils.
In collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the leaders distributed educational materials, stationery, and refreshments to Kindergarten and Primary One students across the municipality. The donation aims to motivate new pupils, ease the financial burden on parents, and ensure a positive start to their academic journey.
During the event, Hon. Brefo emphasized the critical role of early childhood education, reaffirming his commitment to improving school infrastructure and promoting literacy. Hon. Obeng urged parents to be actively involved in their children’s schooling and pledged the Assembly’s continued partnership with the GES to address educational challenges.
Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Richard Boateng, commended the leaders for their consistent support, noting that such gestures significantly improve enrollment and reduce absenteeism.
The “My First Day at School” program is an annual government initiative to welcome new entrants into the basic education system.
