With growing incidence of youth unemployment, livelihood changes, poverty and income inequality in the municipality, calls for consented efforts to stem the trend, to create sustainable growth on the wheels of local economic development. The Municipal leadership in administering policy, service and effective management of resource cannot overlook the impact of unemployment on social life and security, in so doing deem if necessary to make conscious effects to develop its local resources and products that can attract investments, markets and local products of local, regional and national comparative and completive advantages.
With these agenda of local economic development for greater economic growth, sustainable jobs and incomes, the Assembly organized a day’s workshop with selected Municipal stakeholders on LED platform to consult, discuss and identify unique products for promotion among citizens that can be sold with higher returns of sustainable economic growth and income.
BABMA therefore has a local economic development goal of stimulating continuous increase in economic growth, livelihood improvement and enhanced job creation in the municipality. BABMA products identified for LED growth in the municipality were Plantain farm, Rice farm and Catfish farm.
The Municipal Assembly appeals to its citizens to get involve in the drive for economic growth, income generation and job creation. The Municipal Assembly’s has as a focus to attract investment in the selected products as there existed greater markets for the products.
