On 26th September 2025, the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly held a Community Engagement meeting at the Assembly Hall. The event brought together key stakeholders, including the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Member of Parliament (MP), the Presiding Member (PM), FM/Radio stations, political party representatives, Assembly members, transport unions, CSOs, heads of security agencies, departmental heads, market women associations, and the local council of churches.
The MCE, Hon. Alfred Amoah, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement as mandated by the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936). He stated that such engagements foster transparency, accountability, and active citizen participation in local governance.
He also addressed false claims in the media regarding the Assembly’s finances, providing clarity with verified figures:
1. DACF Allocation: GH₵6,463,428.40 received for the first and second quarters of 2025 (unspent and securely kept for intended projects).
2. Procurement & Projects: Advertised in August 2025 for the construction of a CHPS compound, classroom block, staff accommodation, toilets, and nine mechanized boreholes. Tender opening was held on 25th September 2025, with evaluation ongoing.
3. Internally Generated Funds (IGF): GH₵3,324,110.11 mobilized by August 2025, used partly for:
o Completion of a 6-unit classroom block at Queens SHS
o Dredging/desilting of storm drains at Bibiani and Sefwi-Bekwai
o Supporting community self-help projects
4. Total Revenue: GH₵9,787,538.51 as at August 2025 (contrary to inflated figures of GH₵12m–17m circulating in the media).
The MCE reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparent, accountable governance, stressing that allegations of embezzlement or misappropriation are baseless. He urged the public to disregard misinformation and rely only on official communications from the Assembly.
In closing, he assured stakeholders of his dedication to working with all partners to advance the Municipality’s development agenda in line with the vision of His Excellency, the President.
The Municipal Finance Officer (MFO) presented the Assembly’s financial status from January to August 2025, covering IGF funds, expenditure, and statutory allocations.
