GREEN GHANA PROJECT LAUNCHED

As part of The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Forestry Commission’s agenda to eradicate deforestation, unplanned climate changes and to support global and national commitments on restoration of degraded landscapes. The launch of the GREEN GHANA PROJECT to plant 5million trees in 1 DAY country wide was observed. The Bibiani Anhwiaaso Bekwai Municipal Assembly was not left out of this project. The launch was held in Anhwiaso the seat of the Traditional Area on Friday June 11 2021.
The District Manager – Bibiani Forest District, Mr Eric Asare made it known that the municipality has a target of 100,000 trees to plant adding that the Omanhene of the Traditional area, who double as the President for the Western North Reginal House of Chiefs and the National House of Chiefs. Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II has donated to the project 5000 tree seedlings adding up to 105000 trees to be planted in the municipality. He further said that as at Thursday June 10 2021 the day before the GREEN GHANA DAY June 11, 2021, over 98,000 seedlings were distributed in the municipality and will continue with the rest of the seedlings today. He also thanked churches, schools, cooperate bodies and individuals for taking part in the Green Ghana Project to make them hit their target.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Alfred Amoah commended the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Akuffo Addo, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Forestry Commission for initiating such a great and good project to address climate change and degraded landscapes.
Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II, Omanhene of the Anhwiaso Traditional Area, who chaired the program advised that everyone should protect and care for the trees we plant today ‘Police your Trees’ so that they grow well to serve their purpose.
On the whole the participation was massive.
